Focusing On The Positives When The Number On The Scale Goes Up: Weigh-In Wednesday Week 11

Happy Wednesday! I hope you are having a great week so far. This week has been pretty good for me, but I will admit I was not too excited about writing this weekly weigh-in post. The scale showed that I was up a pound and I was a little sad about it. I felt like there were a few things that I could have done differently and could have possibly had a different result.



Starting Weight in January: 253

Week 1 Weigh-In: 230.0

Week 2 Weigh-In: 227.6

Week 3 Weigh-In: 226.2

Week 4 Weigh-In: 227.0

Week 5 Weigh-In: 224.2

Week 6 Weigh-In: 223.8

Week 7 Weigh-In: 223.0

Week 8 Weigh-In: 221.8

Week 9 Weigh-In: 220.2

Week 10 Weigh-In: 219.0

Week 11 Weigh-In: 220.0

Weight Lost Since Last Week: +1 lbs

Total Weight Lost Since January: -33 lbs

Remembering why I write these posts every week…

But then I remembered why I choose to write these posts every week. I share these weekly weigh-ins with you not to toot my own horn when the scale is down or seek sympathy when the scale is up. I share them because I want you to feel encouraged no matter where you stand during any particular week, whether that be a loss or a gain.

Sometimes the scale does not show what we want to see, and it can be so easy to get down. I want to use this week as an opportunity not to beat myself up, but to recognize all the positives that have come from my journey this far.

The truth is… there are a lot of positive things that we experience during our health and weight loss journey that are amazing, if we choose to focus on them. We should not simply focus on weight loss, but on how we are feeling and the improvements that we see in our lives too. I wanted to share with you some highlights that I’ve experienced during the last nine months.

My hope is that you will be inspired to reflect on the great things that you have seen so far too, no matter how small you may think those things are.

Let’s celebrate our wins no matter what the scale says this week!

My Highlights:

I am healthier than I have ever been! I don’t remember the last time I felt this good. I am learning to put good foods into my body, getting more active, and I am feeling great.


I am helping to motivate my family to get healthy! Those closest to me are starting to see the changes in me and they are beginning to ask questions. I have been able to introduce them to the world of healthy living, which is a world that they probably would not have been introduced to otherwise.


I am down 33 pounds, which is the most weight that I have ever lost!


I am more confident! Before I started my journey I used to hate what I saw in the mirror. I’m starting to see the girl that I lost for so many years… the real me!


I have so much more energy! I used to be so tired all the time. Now I can do more fun activities with my friends and family without feeling drained and tired!
