How To Freeze Cookie Dough Easily |Step By Step Instructions!

Do you find that whenever you bake cookies you always have more cookie dough than you actually need? Whether I am making homemade cookie dough or buying it from the store, we ALWAYS have some left. Like most things, that I learn to freeze, I learned to freeze cookie dough out of pure necessity. One day I decided to try and freeze our leftover cookie dough, because I was tired of wasting it. It turns out that cookie dough freezes perfectly. A bonus is that it’s very easy to do! Today I’m going to share with you my method for freezing cookie dough.

Steps For Freezing Cookie Dough

Step 1:

Line the bottom of a freezer-safe container with parchment paper. Note: If you do not have a freezer-safe container, you can just use a freezer bag.

Step 2:

Form your cookie dough into your desired size, roll it into a ball, and place it on top of your parchment paper.

Step 3:

Continue forming and putting your cookie dough into your container or freezer bag.

Step 4:

If you run out of space on the bottom, place another piece of parchment paper on top of the bottom layer of cookie dough. Continue forming and placing your cookie dough in your container or freezer bag.

Step 5:

Repeat these steps until all of your cookie dough has been used.

Step 6:

Once all of your cookie dough has been used, it’s time to store it. If you are using a freezer-safe container, put the lid on tightly. If you are using a freezer bag, press out all of the air and zip the bag up.

Step 7:

Label your container or freezer bag with what’s inside and the date. You want to do this because sometimes once food is frozen, it’s hard to tell what’s inside. Note: If you are using a container, and don’t want to write on it that’s okay. You can simply take a sheet of paper, write “cookie dough” and the date, then tape it to the top of your container.

Step 8:

Put your cookie dough in the freezer until you are ready to use it.

Tip For Baking:

You don’t need to defrost your cookie dough. You can bake the dough from frozen. All you need to do is throw your cookie dough in the oven while it is coming up to temperature!
