What To Do If You Fear That Losing 100 Pounds Will Take Too Long: WEIGH-IN WEDNESDAY WEEK 18

What To Do If You Fear That Losing 100 Pounds Will Take Too Long: WEIGH-IN WEDNESDAY WEEK 18

Happy Wednesday!

I hope you’ve had a great week so far. It has been pretty good for me! You know… this week I started to think back to a couple of years ago and I discovered something that I want to share with you, that I don’t actually think I realized before.

A Personal Story

Back in 2016 my husband Patrick and I found ourselves in a bad situation. We were 2 years into our marriage and drowning in debt. Credit card debt. Car loan debt. Personal loan debt. OH and the biggest of all? Student loan debt! The strain that our finances were having on our marriage was out of this world! Every month we were in the negative. It wasn’t that we WANTED to be spending more than we made, but we had bad habits.

We didn’t know what the heck we were going to do about it, but what we did know was that something had to change. The first step for us was deciding to make it our mission to tackle our consumer debt first (the credit cars, personal loans, and car loan). Pretty soon after the decision, fear started to rise up in me and I started to think things like “why should we even try, I have no idea how we are going to be able to get out of all of this debt?” All I could see was the mountain of debt!

What I realize now is that I almost let the fear that things would take too long prevent me from starting the journey. Long story short, we did end up paying off all of our consumer debt, but this week I started to wonder… what would have happened if we would have let the fear of the journey stop us from even starting?

How It All Relates

The reason I bring this whole thing up is that I realized how closely that time in my life relates to the beginning of my weight loss journey. Sure weight loss and debt are completely different but hear me out. The same thing that almost stopped me from wanting to start our debt journey was the same thing that almost stopped me from starting my weight loss journey too! I had over 100 pounds to lose, I didn’t know how I could possibly lose it all, and the biggest reason of all: I thought the road to accomplishing my goal would take way too long.

There Is Power In Starting Right Where You Are

Lucky for me, I didn’t let the fear keep me from starting. Maybe you feel that your journey will take too long too and that feeling is what is stopping you from starting. If you can relate, then this post is for you. I just want to encourage you to start right where you are!

As you can see, this week I lost 1 pound, which may not seem like much on its own, but when I look at the full picture I have lost over 37 pounds in total and I am beyond proud of that! This has been an 11-month journey for me so far and I am so happy that I started. I want you to know that you have what it takes to accomplish any goal that you set for yourself! If you would like to read about the 3 small changes that I made to start my weight loss journey and begin losing weight, check out my post The Power Of Making Small Changes.

If you are like me and have 100 pounds or more to lose, just do your best, take it one day at a time, and keep on going no matter how hard it gets! Remember success is success no matter how long it takes! You know I remember what it was like when we pushed the “pay in full button” to pay off our car. It was such an amazing and surreal feeling. In that very moment, I did not care about how long it took us to accomplish this goal or the sacrifices that had to be made, or how fast anyone else did it. All that mattered in that very moment was how proud I felt that we accomplished our goal!

I have a feeling that when we reach the end of our weight loss journey the feeling will be just as sweet! The best thing that you can do for yourself is to start and then from there…keep on pushing because you’ve got what it takes to see your goal come to pass! Let’s do this together!
